JELLY BABIES, MARTINIS, LEOPARD PRINT and FAIRY LIGHTS

Last night we had so much fun! I don’t know about you, but personally I find the best nights happen when they are completely unplanned and there are no expectations. There’s no way you can try and plan for them {that would defeat the ‘spontaneous’ part}, they just kind of  happen once in a while, and they are just the best! Last night was also particularly HOT, with temperatures for the day already having reached 30 degrees by 8.30am ~ somewhat unusual for Cape Town in April ~ the start of Autumn. It’s one of the many things I love so much about summer ~ going out in hot weather. I love the feeling of freedom it provides ~ no need to drag a ridiculous amount of layers along just in case one should freeze to death ~ the clothes on your back will suffice! I’ve also heard people say that there is a higher count of violence in countries that are hotter in temperature, BUT that hotter countries also have higher passion.

May the following photographs temporarily transport you into the midst of the night we experienced!

Getting ready to go to Tjing Tjing!

Outfit for the night

Trying to wave down a cab... We eventually found one! We asked if he'd give us a discount on our fair if we told him funny jokes. "Only if they make me laugh!" he replied.

Life's too short to be serious. This pic goes out to my bro, Nic. He would be proud

Didn’t get any pics at Tjing Tjing bar, but I feel the cocktail I had there is well worth a mention! It’s called a Jelly Baby and consists of Stolichnaya Vanilla Vodka, Cointreau, Pomegranate Juice, Lemon, Jelly Babies. Yes please!

Heh

At the Slug & Lettuce on Long St. "Bar whores!" exclaims Dani ~ a LOL moment

Craig & I

Leopard print will never go out of fashion

We left Slug & Lettuce and started making our way {in heels} {with Dani's very injured foot} up the road to Asoka. Along the way we got distracted...

Craig {not to the rescue} ~ we couldn't get a lift on his bike with no helmets...

After {very foolishly} hitch-hiking up the road {and getting slightly reprimanded from the kind lad who picked us up}, we arrive at Asoka. I love this place!

Ah, the infamous Porn Star martini. Vanilla vodka, shaken up with fresh passion fruits, passion fruit puree and vanilla sugar served
straight up with a shot of Champagne on the side. YUM!

Ordering drinks from the bar at Asoka, the women on the left starts 'chatting us up'. Won't go into details but Dani's face pretty much says it all... Hahaha

The atmosphere is vibey & dark. I'm not the biggest House fan when it comes to music but I must say Asoka always play great tunes ~ music I would describe as 'funky-porno-afro-groove-pimp-bounce' {I just coined that}...
Music that makes you wanna shake what your Mama gave ya. I have become much more open to experiencing different venues with different crowds & music, and it has been to my benefit! Cash in on all potential great experiences, is my new-found order of thought.

I'm the girl who always slips out of conversation. It may seem rude to others {now that I think about it} but it's not a conscious thought ~ the one minute I'm there and the next I'm observing, exploring the scene with my eyes, pondering... Gone.

Walking Craig to his trusty steed, we were absolutely flabbergasted when we discovered a magical 'behind the scenes' world ~ a simple concrete staircase joining a higher street to the lower one we were standing on. Joining streets, joining worlds.

Love this girl, and my cap!

Drawn like a moth to a flame...

The magical staircase... Where will it take us?

Looking down from the top

Where all good nights should end: on the kitchen floor!

A night I’ll never forget.

Hope you enjoyed this post! Happy Sunday x
